The Spokane Youth Symphony’s eighth annual 2024 Spring Tea Luncheon & Silent Auction took place on Saturday, May 11 from 1-3 pm in the beautiful Skyline Ballroom at The Centennial Hotel in downtown Spokane.

Young musicians from the SYS Chamber Music Program provided a beautiful atmosphere for the event. Spokane Youth String Quartet included Christopher Anderson, violin, Aiden Winings, violin, WilliamFarley, viola, and Charles Johnson, cello.  The Woodwind Trio included Sharon Cattich, oboe, Teresa Johnson, clarinet, and Jacob Campbell, bassoon.

The Honored Guest for the event was Gonzaga music professor and director of the Gonzaga Orchestra, Kevin Hekmatpanah. Kevin is a professor of music and the director of the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra.  He was honored for his training and inspiration of music students in our region.

Amy Confer, mother of SYSO violinist, Katelyn Confer, was honored as the 2024 Volunteer of the Year for her active participation in volunteering for the organization during the last six years that her daughter has participated in SYS.

The event has been the result of the vision and energy of SYS Board member, Connie Kerbs. A silent auction has been added in recent years along with fun drawings and a raffle. This year’s raffle prize provided two tickets to Swan Lake coming in October to the First Interstate Center.
